Implementation of Computing

Our computing curriculum follows Sheffield Primary Computing scheme of work. This online document is regularly up-dated so it ensures we are delivering the newest content to our pupils to allow them to become digitally literate. Over their time in school, children are taught essential skills on a range of hardware: computers, iPads, BBC micro:bits, Crumble and Beebots, to name a few. This ensures that by the time they leave us they are able to use, and express themselves through information and communication technology in order to develop their ideas. These lessons are taught discretely, but if possible link to other curriculum subjects.

This is structured within these strands:

  • Key skills
  • Communicating: Texts and Images
  • Communicating: Multimedia
  • Data and Information; and
  • Programming

Essentially for the potential dangers facing our children online, online safety is taught throughout the curriculum as well as explicitly in our RSHE and computing lessons.
