Geography

Implementation of Geography

Our units are all planned by curriculum leaders specifically with our children in mind, as well as being national curriculum compliant. We aim to build on children’s knowledge of their surrounding and local area before making links between other global localities, such as Australia and Rwanda.

Whilst learning about human and physical geography, we develop the concepts of:

  • space
  • place
  • scale
  • sustainability
  • interdependence

We enhance this knowledge through fieldwork and visits; some of which are repeated to build up skills and give a different aspect of place. We want to grow the children’s fascination with the world. In addition to looking at the physical and human processes that impact on communities, we explore how we as future citizens can live more sustainably. Each unit aims to be progressive and repetitive to build crucial knowledge and skills.
