Y4: 14.02.25

We did it! We made it to half term and we have just crammed so much in. Each and every child has done you proud. We ended the half term with our spectacular Watercliffe Meadow’s Got Talent final. Well done to every child that entered and everyone for being an amazingly supportive audience!

Swimming:

We had our first swimming lesson this week, as you know. The children were brilliant! Whilst we do have a lot of children who were familiar with Hillsborough pool and used to being in the water, swimming lessons are still a lot of unknown and they handled it brilliantly! We cannot wait to see the week-on-week progress that will take place between now and the end of the year. Just remember that they need a bag big enough to put their coat and shoes in too.

Science:

Another hands-on science lesson for this week. The children made their own switches that could complete or break a circuit. We discussed all the different electrical appliances we know of that have switches and why we think they are there. Switches are going to come in very useful when we start our next Design and Technology project after the half-term holiday!

Writing:

After the success of our non-chronological reports, this week has been another enjoyable one. We have been using a fantastic stimulus with the book ‘Lift’. It has enabled us to write some wonderful description and focus on the sentence structure and grammatical skills we have learnt.

Y4GH:

Star of the Week is for Ashton. He has been so positive all week and just handled everything in an amazing way!

Several children in class have been working super hard on their handwriting, and are desperate to pass! One of these children who has shown EXCELLENT progression is Kurt! He is being awarded our Making Careful Choices badge for this.

Y4MB

The Learning Principle (Be Positive) postcard is going to be awarded to Olly. What a superstar!

Star of the Week is Maisie because she just does all we ask and does it as well as she possibly can.
