A brilliant week again. W/E 7th Feb

That was an amazing week!

How are we only two weeks from half term already?! Looking back, we can’t believe how much learning the children have packed in already, and how much they have progressed!

Maths:

This has probably been our most successful maths block yet! Length and perimeter has appealed to everyone. The knowledge and skills the children retained from Y3 in order to be able to measure the perimeter of rectilinear shape was very impressive! We could even do the extended learning of finding the perimeter of regular polygons. Shape is definitely our bag!

Writing:

Over the last three weeks, the children have learnt about three different ecosystems: Antarctica, grasslands and rainforests. We have focussed in on accurate sentences, using prepositions and writing themed paragraphs. This week’s writing has really come together and their independent application of the skills whilst accurately sharing facts about rainforests has been exceptional. We are looking forward to showcasing the best of our writing in our university files.

Geography:

Our knowledge about volcanoes is growing… we can label the main parts of them, we know where the magma (and then lava) comes from. We are even beginning to explain how volcanic eruptions change the physical landscape of the Earth. Today, we even challenged ourselves to place some of the more famous volcanoes on a different visual representation of a world map. Do you know where Mount Fuji, Krakatoa or Saint Maria volcanoes are?

Y4GH:

Star of the Week is for Esmai H. She is, undoubtedly, one of our absolute always children. She works so hard all the time and is a brilliant friend and member of our class!

We are really excited to award our Learning Principle postcard this week to Summer. She should feel unbelievably proud of herself. The writing she has produced this week about rainforests has been exceptional! Even her perimeter learning in maths this week has been on point too – go Summer!

PE Star of the Week: This week, the PE star of the week is for Jessica from Y4GH. During her indoor PE session, Jess showed that she could link her skills as an Anglo-Saxon guard into PE and was demonstrating exceptional aim. Well done Jess!

Y4MB

The Learning Principle (Enjoy Challenge) postcard was given to Fasiha. She has come on so much and is improving her learning every day. Well done!.

Star of the Week is Bayan because she just does all we ask and does it as well as she possibly can.
