Today we took some of our lovely nursery children on a visit to Sundown Adventureland and what a fantastic day we had! We went on lots of amazing rides and visited storybook village to see some of the houses related to the fairytales that we have been reading in nursery. The children were so well-behaved and were a credit to our school! It was freezing cold but they never complained and to see the happiness on their faces was wonderful! What a great day.
This week we created some more fantastic box models. Aren't they fabulous! We have really enjoyed learning new skills such as joining objects together and selecting the resources we wanted to use.
Didn't we look great for Children in Need today!
This week in nursery we have been creating some fabulous box models using junk modelling on our creative workshop. We thought very hard about what we wanted to create and which resources we would use to make it. We then used glue or tape to join our resources together. Our models ranged from cars to robots, mermaids and castles. What fantastic creations we have made. I wonder what we will create next?
This week in nursery we have had some new torches to play with. We have really enjoyed shining them all around our spooky cave and finding interesting things to investigate with them. We have also been following the Golden Rules, trying our best to look after them and share them with our friends.
Children in Need is Friday 15th November, on the same week as anti-bullying week.
This week in nursery we have been exploring all things Autumn! We went on an Autumn walk just outside the main reception to look at what is happening to the trees. We found out that the leaves have changed colour and are falling off the trees. We found pine cones and lots of sticks. In nursery we then painted our own Autumn trees using Autumn colours and from our experience of what the trees looked like on our walk. We also used pipettes to collect different coloured water and squeeze it onto cotton pads to try to create Autumn leaves. We were so careful and absolutely loved using our fine motor skills to manipulate the pipette and we were amazed with the colours that the cotton pads turned. What a fun end to the half term!
Today we had our Halloween dress up day. The children looked amazing in their Pumpkin, Skeleton and Witch outfits. We had spooky snack ( witches fingers and monster claws) then we danced to spooky music and listened to the Funnybones and Room On The Broom stories.
Last week we had noticed that a lot of the children were enjoying ''borrowing" our registers and various other teaching resources to play school with. So we thought why not create them their own little school role play area this week, full of everything that they might need to play schools all day long. We have really enjoyed seeing the children role play, pretending to be us!
To celebrate Halloween and create a spooky atmosphere at our cosy read, it is dress up day… if you dare!

This week in nursery we have been practising our cutting skills using scissors to cut up leaves. It wasn't always easy but we have really persevered and kept trying! We will continue to cut up different objects over the next few weeks until we can confidently use scissors.
