06.09.24 Y4 First Week Back

WOW!

We’ll say it again. Wow!

What an amazing first week back. Your children have blown the Year 4 staff away. They are so polite; full of manners; have a great work ethic and are just wonderful little humans! We are so proud of them!

Our spelling, CLIC and Beat That tests will all start properly next week. This week, we are introducing them to the tests.

Maths:

In maths this week, we have been looking at Place Value and specifically: Reading and writing numbers and how they can be represented in different ways.  The work we have seen has been fantastic.

Writing:

This week, we have looked at a PowerPoint called: The Midnight Fair. It is a picture book. There are lots of fantastic pictures. We have used this as the basis of our writing. The aim has been to create simple and compound sentences. Again, the children have worked really hard and produced some excellent learning.

Science:

We have looked at the ‘State of Matter’ in our science this week. We have found out what matter is, we now know the three different ‘States of Matter’. We also know what matter is made up of. Why not ask your children these questions to see if they can answer them!?

History:

This week in history, we have looked at the Anglo-Saxon settlement of Great Britain. We started with what ‘Britain’ was like before the Anglo-Saxons. We looked at what started to happen when the Romans left in 410AD. Ask you children what they know about the Picts!

Art:

We are looking at exploring patterns. We have started this by looking at ‘Sensory Drawing’. We have done this by puncturing holes in paper in patterns – we used a pencil and a pin AND both sides of the paper.

PE:

Our indoor session this week was gymnastics. We looked at creating different types of balances. The outdoor sessions are continuing with EVO.

Y4GH:

Star of the Week is for Finn. He has had an absolutely fabulous first week back and is always ready for the next instruction or piece of learning!

Learning Principle postcard is for Calia, and is for Making Careful Choices. She has tried really hard with all her learning this week and taken such care with her writing.

PE Star of the Week: This week, the PE star of the week is from Y4GH and is for Levia for doing really adventurous balances in our gymnastic sessions.

Y4MB

Star of the Week is for Ethan Craine. He has had an absolutely fabulous first week back. He has worked well with every adult and he has played well with his friends outside.

Learning Principle postcard is for Ethan Smith-Reynolds for Making Careful Choices. He has made so many careful choices this week. In his learning, in his playing and in how polite he has been around school. He is a ‘topman!’

We honestly think this has been one of the hardest week to choose in our (Mr B and Mrs Heaver’s nearly 40 years of teaching) Star of the Week and our postcard. Your kids have shown us how amazing they are and we know they will continue to do so. Thank you all for your support.
