Welcome back for Summer 2. We are learning about holidays this half term. If you have any photos of your children on holiday or travelling on holiday you can either send photos into nursery or email them to f1@watercliffe.sheffield.sch.uk
We have been turning ourselves into minibeasts in our art work this week!
This week in nursery we have been on a minibeast hunt outside to see what we could find. We took a checklist and looked carefully on the walls, floor, in the mud, under objects, in the trees and bushes to find different minibeasts. We found lots and some children were even brave enough to hold them!
We have really enjoyed looking for the bugs in nursery. They have been hiding in the soil, in plant pots and the wooden bricks. We have counted how many wings and legs they have. We have even used the magnifying glass to see all the details on the insects.
This week we released our beautiful butterflies. We were very excited as we have been watching them since they came to us as caterpillars. We have loved watching them grow and metamorphose.
There has been great excitement in nursery this week as all 10 of our caterpillars have made the change inside their chrysalis into butterflies! We enjoyed observing them in the net, flying around and drinking sugar water from fruit. How exciting!

Well done to Noah and Brodie for sending photos of their Spring Learning. Brodie fed lambs at Graves Park while Noah went for a spring walk in Bradfield, where he noticed lots of bluebells and bumblebees buzzing around. Noah has also been growing some strawberries and sunflowers.

This week in nursery we have been doing paintings of real flowers. We have looked carefully and selected the correct colours. We are so proud of how hard you have tried. Well done, we have some budding artists in the making.
This week we have all enjoyed planting a seed to grow a sunflower. We talked about what a sunflower needs in order to grow big and strong.
This week we have been on some lovely walks around school to spot signs of spring. We looked at blossom, flowers. We blew dandelion clocks. We listened and heard birds singing.
We had a fantastic day at the Farm yesterday! The weather was lovely and we had a fun time seeing lots of different animals. We loved the horses and foals. We got to feed the goats and alpacas on our farm tour. We saw mammals and reptiles in their tanks. We were so well behaved and asked and answered lots of questions. What an amazing day we had!
